Esther Barnes, DPM, FACFAS, MBA
Founder & Principal Advisor
Dr. Esther Barnes, DPM, FACFAS, MBA started her career the way most physicians do: with over $300,000 in student loan debt and years of living paycheck to paycheck through residency. That experience taught her the value of every dollar — and, more importantly, the value of time, and what time actually does to money left to compound.

A double board-certified podiatric surgeon, she went on to build a specialty practice, run it, and sell it — and, alongside that, built a commercial real estate portfolio spanning over $20 million in closings across more than a decade. She reached financial independence by 40, built on the same technical precision and objective analysis she relied on first as an engineer, and then in the operating room — and is a CVA Candidate (NACVA) in business valuation, formalizing that same rigor. She has also obtained her MBA (Masters in Business Administration) and completed the CFP Board–registered education program and passed the CFP® Certification Examination, and is currently completing the required experience hours toward CFP® certification. Esther founded Étalon Financial to provide the conflict-free, fee-only guidance she recognized was missing from the industry. That accumulated experience, starting from six figures of debt rather than a head start, is what she wants to share with clients — helping other professionals build wealth that aligns with their actual life goals, not just their balance sheet.
